Member of international scientific organisations, in several cases as a senior official. Former President of The International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP). He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the CIRP Journal of Manufacturing Science and Technology and a member of the editorial boards of numerous international scientific periodicals. There are over 14,000 citations to his approximately 440 publications. He is a co-author of eight international patents.
He is a Humboldt Scholarship holder, recipient of the Dénes Gábor Award, a full member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and a member of the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts (KVAB), the German Academy of Engineering Sciences (acatech), and the Hungarian Academy of Engineering. He holds honorary doctorates from the University of Miskolc and Óbuda University. He was awarded the Civil Decoration of the Knight’s Cross Order of Merit (2010), the Széchenyi Prize (2016), and the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary (2023). He acted also as Senior Advisor of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, Germany.
